Is period underwear safe to use?

Our period underwear is designed with safety and comfort as our top priorities. Below are the individual fabric compositions:

ActiveMatters

Body fabric: 77% polyamide, 23% elastane

Inner Layer: 100% polyurethane

Absorbent layer: 90% cotton, 10% polyester

Waterproof Layer: 100% polyester

Tencel

Body fabric: 94% TENCEL™ Lyocell, 6% elastane

Inner Layer: 77% polyester, 23% merino wool

Absorbent layer: 85% TENCEL™ Lyocell, 15% polyester

Waterproof Layer: 100% polyester

All production has been based in Portugal since April 2023.

We do not add antimicrobial chemicals, such as nanosilver, to our products. In our dyeing process, we exclusively use OEKO-TEX certified dyes.

While it is scientifically challenging to claim any textile is 100% "PFAS Free" (due to the thousands of different PFAS variants in the environment), we take significant steps to ensure none are added to our products:

  • Testing: Our products are tested for PFAS according to the OEKO-TEX 100 standard by Hohenstein, and these tests have not detected any PFAS.
  • Supplier Guarantees: We require written guarantees from all suppliers that no PFAS are added at any stage of production.
  • Certifications: All our suppliers are OEKO-TEX certified.
